TyRex Ramps up Facility Tours

In an effort to educate and inspire, TyRex has expanded its facility tour availability to invite more people to learn about the manufacturing industry and TyRex’s unique position within it – including our 3D printing research initiatives and dinosaur museum. In a two-week timespan, TyRex hosted five Austin area groups containing students, engineers, AI designers, roboticists, and manufacturing professionals.

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

TSBVI students arrived excited, ready to learn and completely interested in all things technology and prehistoric. The students were guided through our entire facility to gain a general level of insight into manufacturing and how our companies coordinate with one another to streamline the manufacturing process from engineering design to production, product testing and shipping. The students also got to meet and interact with a few of our in-house robots including the Gita follow-bot and our very own “Rex” the animatronic Tyrannosaurus rex.

Austin Robotics & AI

The TyRex team kept the lights on past conventional business hours to welcome Austin Robotics & AI into our facility. The group brought a guest speaker to speak about the current state of artificial intelligence technology while our team discussed the role AI and robotics will play in advancing the manufacturing and technology industry as well as everyday life.

Vandegrift High School Ouroboros 4545 Robotics

Already passionate about technology, but eager to learn more, members of the Vandegrift High School ViperBots Ouroboros 4545 Robotics team visited our facility to see our technology manufacturing capabilities including our product testing lab, 3D production lab with DLS technology 3D printers, digital light technology studio and more. We got to show the group how 3D printing can be used for rapid prototyping parts and how we’ve leveraged it to help similar student organizations and local businesses.

Skillpoint Alliance

The Skillpoint Alliance offers career training programs to individuals pursuing a career in construction, maintenance and manufacturing. One group of manufacturing professionals got to expand their understanding of the manufacturing industry with not one, but two facility tours. The first group joined virtually and experienced TyRex through the lens of “TeleRex”, our driving robot capable of streaming real-time video and audio for virtual meetings. Knowing TyRex is best seen in person, the Skillpoint Alliance crew returned with higher numbers to see everything our facility has to offer. The Skillpoint Alliance group was made up of individuals with varying fields of interest and backgrounds, which made for great discussion as we got to dive deep into every facet of what we do here and how they can best prepare for a career in engineering, operations, production, logistics and more.

Austin Regional Manufacturers Association

Our longtime friends at the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association (ARMA) met up at our facility to see everything new at TyRex including our new food 3D printing capabilities via the Foodini, 3D printing research topics, cost savings programs and our newest dinosaur museum artifacts including our 12-foot tall cave bear display! It’s always great to see what’s going on in the Austin manufacturing community and strengthen our relationship with the great individuals that make up the industry.
