Custom Outdoor Camera Housing Solution
An automotive manufacturer was in need of an outdoor rated camera solution for a video surveillance application. TekRex transformed a high-level scope of work into a tangible product line that exceeded expectations.

This case study comes to us from an automotive manufacturer who needed an outdoor rated camera solution designed and built for a video surveillance application. In their scope of work, they specified two compute devices and several different cameras for different applications.

TekRex got to work by first lining out a product line of different tiers of surveillance modules. We sourced various IP 67 rated enclosures to be used across the different tiers and from there we designed how the IO connectors and pinouts, power supply, battery and SSD backups, antenna, and wiring would be arranged in a way that was compact yet easy to access.
The modules stream HD video outdoors, meaning designing for thermal management was especially important. Finally, we designed and 3D printed universal subpanels for the cameras to be mounted to, improving form factor and allowing for the cameras to be interchangeable.
TekRex’s ability to take a high-level rough scope of work and transform it into a tangible product line not only met expectations but allowed for additional opportunities to be developed for this client.
