TyRex & Austin Heart Walk

On October 1, 2011 TyRex employees, family members and pets went out to participate in the annual Austin Heart Walk. This was TyRex’s first year to sponsor the Heart Walk and it was quite a success with over 35 participants representing the TyRex family. TyRex was able to donate $525 to the AHA from employee donations in addition to the $2,500 TyRex Sponsorship donation. As a sponsor there were TyRex and RecognizeGood® banners displayed at the walk as well as a RecognizeGood® Austin Heartwalk Association bookmark placed in each goodie bag provided to the walkers. The American Heart Association’s annual event, the Austin Heart Walk is designed to bring the Austin community together to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle and raise funds for cardiovascular research and education. This non-competitive 5K walk through downtown Austin brought nearly 4,000 walkers together last year and raised over $450,000 for the American Heart Association’s life saving mission. This year, the event hoped to raise $625,000 to continue supporting heart-healthy living in the Austin community. The event had sponsor booths, health screenings, kids activities, pet activities and live music for all of the participants to enjoy. AHA believes that reducing heart risk for individuals will increase employee productivity by 9%. It is their goal to create a heart-healthier Austin while raising vital funds for cardiovascular research. Their premise is simple: Walk more. Eat better. Live longer. The American Heart Association thanked TyRex for their sponsorship with a letter that can be found on the back of the newsletter. The event was a great success and brought the TyRex family together to support a much needed cause in our community.
